The M20 is BMW's workhorse late 80s engine. Replacing the restrictive vane AFM with a modern MAF signal sharpens throttle response and stabilizes idle.

MAFSync isn't limited to BMW. Plenty of 80s and 90s cars use the same flap-style airflow meter with Bosch L-Jetronic or Motronic style injection, including models from Porsche, Volvo, VW, Nissan and Toyota. If yours has one, a profile can be built for it with the DataLogger Kit. Send your engine and ECU details and I'll tell you if it's a fit.
Mechanical vane-type meters (AFM) are restrictive and prone to wear. Modern hot-wire MAF sensors are faster and more accurate, but output a signal the factory ECU doesn't understand.
MAFSync acts as a digital bridge, translating the modern MAF signal into the exact voltage curve your factory ECU expects. No ECU modifications required.

MAFSync started as a solution to a single problem on a single car: a discontinued M42 AFM with no clean replacement. The fix worked. The firmware was refined. The same core approach now covers the entire M20 and 4-cylinder lineups, with the M30 and M10 in active development.
